Edward "Uncle Bill" Duke, 85, of Hendersonville, TN went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2017. He was born on July 14, 1932 in Henderson County, TN to the late James and Maude Duke. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy Parker Duke; sons, Michael Edward (Tammy), Barry Alan (Emily); daughter, Karen Duke (Tanner) Hickman; grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Lance, Laura, Will and Leah; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Guy Loyce Duke. He is preceded in death by his 8 siblings.
Ed was a devoted family man that would do anything for family and friends. He was the first Federal Public Defender for the West District of the state of Tennessee. He was steadfast in his Christian faith and he was proud member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. He fought for the United States of America in the Korean War where in here serve in the U.S. Army. His family described him as, "gentle, loving, wise, and a great example of living for God"
A Life Celebration Graveside service will be held in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens at 1 O' Clock in the afternoon on Thursday, September 14, 2017. Visitation will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home from 12 until the hour of the Graveside service. Bro. Rob Mullins will be officiating the Life Celebration.
In lieu of Flowers donations in loving memory of Edward Duke can be made to First Baptist Church of Hendersonville or to Samaritan's Purse.
