Mr. Earl R. Lanning, 91, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mercedese Lanning, brothers, Fred and Bernard. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet; sister, Annabelle (Neil) Lawrence; daughters, Dee Kilgore (Danny), Rebecca Flynn (James), Renita Harber (Norm); sons, Rick Lanning (Benita) and Ron Lanning (Marianne); cousin, Harold Gore; 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Mr. Lanning was a World War II Veteran where he served in the U.S. Navy. Earl was a firm believer in the Lord and served as an elder at the Lakeview Church of Christ. He was a devoted and loving family man. Education was very important in his life and he instilled that in all of his children.

A Life Celebration Service will be held in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home at 11am on Friday, January 27, 2017 officiated by his son, Rick Lanning. Visitation will be held from 9am until the hour of service on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
