Dr. Yates

Dr. William R. "Bob" Yates, 92, of Hendersonville, TN passed on to his heavenly reward on October 2, 2016.
Born on July 6, 1924, Bob developed many wonderful qualities which will live on forever in our hearts. He will be remembered as generous, outgoing, kind, and loving toward all those he encountered. He earned his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University and went on to earn his doctorate at the University of Louisville's Dental School. Bob never knew a stranger and had many friends at many local restaurants where he was a regular. Being a people person, he had compassion on those less fortunate and he volunteered his dental expertise to countless patients over the course of his career. Irma recalls, "He was a good man," and indeed he was.
In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors; namely, fishing and golfing. His lake house on Kentucky Lake was his retreat from the cares of daily life. Bob wasn't a fan of television; in fact, he preferred to read a good book or work through a word search. He also liked to play cards and enjoyed winning at every chance he could. Family was his top priority and he took every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-plus years, Claudine Yates. Bob is survived by his partner and best friend, Irma Pardon; daughters, Elena Eulo (Vince) Valva, Jackie (Jerry) West, Jill (Steve) Dunlap; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Vessels; and his beloved canine companion, Sassy.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 beginning at 3 p.m. at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. Hendersonville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 615-824-3855 hendersonvillefh.com
