Dr. Swartz

Doctor Elizabeth Ann Swartz age 79, went to be with Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2020.

"Beth" was born on December 16, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Doctor Chester and Caroline Perry. As a youngster Elizabeth enjoyed being on Lake Charlevoix in Michigan with her sister, Caroline Valentine and her brother, Kenneth Perry.

As a scholar she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, a master's degree from DePaul University, and a doctorate in Education from Vanderbilt University.

She married Donald Swartz in 1962 and lived in Chicago, Illinois where she had her son's David and Daniel. Elizabeth was a loving mother that insured her sons understood life's values, Jesus Christ, and the need of a great education. As a loving grandmother she enjoyed lake life with her grandson and granddaughters.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Caroline and her father, Chester.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University, she began teaching English to freshman football players at that University.

Her next position was for Tennessee Higher Education Board. While working for Governor Lamar Alexander, she was instrumental in developing the Tennessee mast teacher program. After working for the Indiana State Education Board, she became an International Educational consultant. She taught and lectured across United States and in in countries of Georgia, Japan, and Australia.

Elizabeth (Beth) was a member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church where she taught the Companion class Sunday school for fifteen years and served on many Church groups. She visited Israel two times to learn more of the life of Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul.

Beth loved God. She was filled with an amazing grace for all humanity which she showed by working for Habitat for Humanity in Michigan, Nashville, Eleuthera Bahamas, and teaching children on the Hopi Indian reservation in Arizona.

Beth and Don enjoyed a loving life for 58 years and shared their love as they traveled to fifty-one countries and forty-nine states in America.

A private service will be held.
