Dr. Parija

Dr. Gopal Chandra Parija of Nashville, TN died on October 8, 2011 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center of complications with cancer. Dr. Parija, 70, was retired, but was most recently an associate professor of pathology at Meharry Medical College in Nashville. Dr. Parija is survived by his wife Annapurna, his daughter Susmita, and his son Bob. Dr. Parija is also survived by his grandson Gage, and his granddaughter Chandra.
Dr. Parija will be remembered as a skilled physician and passionate teacher of medicine, but more importantly as a devout Hindu, a loving husband, father, grandfather, bhaina, mausa, aja to the broader Odia community, a caring friend, a teacher and mentor to thousands of students, a curious mind who loved to learn and teach, and a boundless heart who cared deeply for all who came into contact with him.He will be so deeply missed.
