Harold Douglas Cornwell, age 86, passed away on October 12, 2024 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born on May 29, 1938 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late Everett Cornwell and Jessie Witcher Moncrief. Doug is also preceded in death by his sisters, Polly Ragland and Patricia Thomas.
Doug is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma Wallace Cornwell; children, Lisa Tucker (Bobby), Scott Cornwell, Jada Bates (Greg), Tia Tate (Glenn); grandchildren, Alex Cornwell, Courtney Tucker Veal (Carl), Corbin Tucker, Abigail Bates Ammons (Mike), Abraham Bates (Laiken), and Tian Tate; great-grandchildren, Kenzie Veal and Baby Bates due April 2025; honorary grandchildren, Queena Lu and Andrew Mutchler; and sister, Linda Ramsey.
Doug was a graduate of Jackson County High School. He spent 30 years in Maintenance for General Electric. Doug served as a Deacon at Hendersonville Church of Christ, an accomplishment he held dear to his heart. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, yardwork, and mowing. Helping others, spending time in Jackson County, and his family were his most treasured things in life.
All visitation and services will be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, Saturday, October 19, 2024. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief or Bereavement Meals, Hendersonville Church of Christ, 107 Rockland Road, Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075.
