ROACH, Dorothy Sisk – Age 91, of Nashville, TN, passed away on March 5, 2012 after a short illness in the company of her two loving daughters. She was born in Waverly, TN where she was the second oldest with five siblings who all preceded her in death. Dorothy graduated in 1939 from Hume Fogg High School. She later went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers, where she was employed for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of Vine Street Christian Church, where she was a member of the Anne Williamson Sunday School Class. Dorothy was an avid reader and a bowler who loved the beach. She was feisty, spunky, and a determined fighter. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Roach. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Mathews and Kay James George; grandson, Jack Tidwell, Jr., and wife, and several nieces and nephews who loved her very much. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Thomas Kleinart officiating. Interment will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens where friends and family will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nashville Public Library, Vine Street Christian Church, or the American Cancer Society.
