Dorothy “Miney” Oats, age 85, of Hendersonville, passed away on Monday, October 4th, 2021. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie W. Oats, parents, Cletus and Robbie Taylor, brother, Robert Taylor and sister, Louise Sparks. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Conn (Gary) and Donna Burton (Danny), grandchildren, Lindsay Tisdale, Matthew Tisdale (Meredith), Abby Reid (Patrick) and Coy Adams, great-grandchildren, Owen Tisdale, Everly Tisdale, Mabry Reid, Maverick Reid and brothers, James Taylor (Aline) and Marvin Taylor (Sylvia). Dorothy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Dorothy was born on September 15th, 1936 in Nashville, Tennessee. She retired as a loan office from SunTrust Bank and was a long-time member of Indian Lake Peninsula Church in Hendersonville. She enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Senior Citizen Center in Hendersonville and shopping. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. She was a giving and caring woman whose smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service for Dorothy will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street in Hendersonville on Saturday, October 9th at 11:00 AM, officiated by Bobby Morris. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 8th from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
