KING, Dorothy Jeanne Powell-age 89 passed away July 3, 2012. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Goodlettsville and a current long time member of Bluegrass Baptist Church in Hendersonville. She was a leader in the drive to get Special Education started in public schools. Dorothy enjoyed being a member of the Gardening Club, she also liked to do crossword puzzles in her spare time, and she loved traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Duward and Bertha Powell; brothers, Larry Marie Powell and John Robert Powell. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years Sidney Lynn King; children, Lynda Michael Ryan, Jeanne P. King, Sherri Donald Sharp, Michael L. Kim King; grandchildren, Richard Ryan, Todd Michelle Ryan, Jeani Brandon Hurst, Lynn Lauri Ealey, Katelyn Sharp, Lynsey King, Ashley King, and Christopher King; great-grandchildren, Sydney Ryan, Karissa Hurst, Dalton Hurst, Camden Hurst, and Rylan Hurst; niece, Cathy Jim Woods; A Life Celebration Service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Matt Tullos officiating. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
