Doris Marie Pendleton Swift- age 85 went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2016.
She was a 1950 graduate of East High School and was the co-editor of the "East High Eagle." Doris loved Jesus and her church. As a child she attended Edgefield Baptist Church in Nashville. Once she moved to Hendersonville she became a devoted member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible Study for many years. Most people would tell you that she was the best Bible teacher ever.
Doris was a people person. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Doris loved to travel, you could say she was a world traveler. She was also the 2nd worst golfer in the world, but she was a member of the 18 Holers Women's Club at Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club. Doris was many things to many people and helped to shape the lives of many. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all.
She is preceded in death by her sons, John King Swift, Michael David Swift, and Gary William Swift; sister, Betty Lee Stiddum; brother, John Burr Pendleton, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bill Swift; son, Mark Swift (Marti); grandson who is like a son, Matthew Swift; grandchildren, James, William, and Daniel Swift, Emily Poole, Cheyenne, Jennifer, Jeffrey and Zachary Swift; brother, Franklin D. Pendleton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at NHC Hendersonville. The family would also like to recognize Willine Herron, Nan Simpson, and Pam Greer for their compassionate care provided.
A life celebration service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2pm with visitation held prior from 12pm-2pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home 353 E Main St Hendersonville, TN 37075 615-824-3855 hendersonvillefh.com
