Mrs. Doris Jean "Jill" Finegan passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Mrs. Finegan was born in Rochester, NY and moved to Claremont in 1976 where she lived for thirty-two years before moving to Hendersonville, TN to live with her son and his family. She graduated from the University of Rochester New York cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She moved to New York City where she met her husband, Bob, a recent emigrate, from Ireland. After marriage they moved to Rochester and eventually moved to Claremont.

Jill became the first paid librarian at Condit Elementary School and stayed in that position for twenty-two years. Her other activities were Chairman of the Claremont Public Library semi-annual booth sale for five years, Board of Friends of Claremont Library for six years, aide for Red Cross Blood Pressure Nurse at Joslyn Center, member of First Baptist Church of Claremont, member of Joslyn Readers Book Club, member of Red Hats Society, and an associate member of Children's Fund Volunteers at Condit Elementary school after retirement. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Finegan was preceded in death by her husband, W. Robert (Bob) Finegan and son John Fitzgerald Finegan.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law Ed Geier and his wife Shirley, her brother Jack Geier, her three sons, Bill, Mark, and Roy; four grandchildren, Adam, Ryan, Jennifer, and Liam; and four step-grandchildren, Victor Diaz, III, Andrew Diaz, Desiree Diaz, and Julian Diaz.

There will be a service and reception in her honor at Claremont Baptist Church on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Braille Institute of America 741 N. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90029.
