Donald O. Riddle, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Don was born on October 29, 1937, to Robert Coleman Riddle and Ernestine (Eaves) Riddle in Versailles, Kentucky.
Don graduated from Central High School in Columbia, Tennessee Class of 1955. While in high school, Don was Class President, Valedictorian, and voted Most Likely to Succeed. Don enjoyed coin collecting, golfing, boating on Old Hickory Lake, and travelling the world. Don was a long time member of the Saundersville United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Automatic Service Company, Inc. and was the proud sponsor of the Automatic Service softball team which won the State tournament in 1987. Don was a huge fan of Vanderbilt football and basketball, holding season tickets as well as a true Titan fan. But most importantly, Don loved his family and will be missed.
Don is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Linda (White) Riddle, daughters Christy Pence and Donna Hall, grandson Casey Pence, parents Robert and Ernestine Riddle, sister Joyce Riley, brother Thomas Riddle, and sister-in-law Pat Taylor. He is survived by his daughter Vickie Smith (Brian), son Donald Riddle, Jr. (Carolyn), grandchildren Shanon Pennington, Jeremy Stocks, Drew Stocks (Haley), and Daniel Pennington; eight great grandchildren, brother James “Jimmy” Riddle (Juanita), sister Joanne Grissom, sister-in-law Mary Webb along with many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 5pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 1pm with visitation beginning at 11am. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearer’s will be Jeremy Stocks, Drew Stocks, Preston Stocks, Joe Smith, Jeff Gray, and Jim Miller.
