Dennis J. Stackhouse

Dennis James Stackhouse, age 83, passed away on March 10, 2025. Dennis was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 7, 1941, to James Patrick and Verda Irene (Kardatzke) Stackhouse.

Dennis was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His infectious laugh could light up a room. He was a true follower of Jesus who never met a stranger. He lived his faith through acts of kindness and years of attendance at Christ is Love in Hendersonville. He worked his entire career selling insurance alongside his wife of 63 years Shirley. They enjoyed countless adventures with their grandson Christopher. They explored everywhere from Europe to The Grand Canyon. When the kids were young, he enjoyed taking them camping at the beach and volunteering at the church youth group. When the grandchildren arrived, he became a devoted “Papa” and enjoyed many new adventures with them. He will be greatly missed. His love, faith, and generosity will live on in all who knew him.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 63 years Shirley; grandson Christopher Stackhouse; and his brother Jack Stackhouse. He is survived by his son Michael (Teresa) Stackhouse; daughters Rebecca (Ted) Reed and Susan (Larry) Neltner. Dennis is also survived by his grandchildren Christina (Todd) Sams, Heather (Greg) Bumgarner, Daniel (Cathy) Reed, David (Madeline) Reed, Caitlin (Zakk) Elsea, Harrison Reed, Michelle (Kiel) Brewster, Virginia Stackhouse, Jeanette Thayer, Timothy Jacob, and Jena (Nik) Norrod. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren Caleb, Maddie, Tye, Macie, Tison, Samantha, Jacob, Maire, John Carl, Henry, Michael, Jolene, Ellie, Michaela, Greyson, Nya, Silas, Soloman, Noah, Felicity, Emelia, and Olivia.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10am-12pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 12pm in the Chapel at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
