Delores "Dee" Wheeler- age 68 went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2015.
As a young woman she graduated from the University of Arkansas Little Rock Summa Cum Laude with a Masters of Social Work. After graduation she began working for the Veterans Administration and became the head coordinator of the homeless program until her retirement. She was a woman of strong faith and an active member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church and many organizations within the church.
When remembering Dee the words loving, supportive, humble and giving would describe her best. God was her best friend and he gave her the ability to make everyone around her feel special like they were her best friend. She had many interests but her most favorite were theatre and listening to contemporary Christian music. She touched the lives of many people and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Mike Wheeler; children, Denise (Mark) Mitchell, Sherry McNeal, Cindy (Tim) Hammers, and Brittany Hammers; grandchildren, Cody Flake, Brandon and Logan McNeal, and Trey and Blake Mason; great-grandson, Nile Morgan Mason; Several siblings and extended family members; her beloved dog Scooter also survives.
A life celebration service will be held at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church on Thursday at 1pm. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home and on Thursday from 11am-1pm at the church.
