David Dewey Melton

David Dewey Melton, age 68, passed away on September 11, 2024. He was born on November 7, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Dewey and Beverly Melton. Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Darlene M. Melton; loving children, Brandon Melton (Kristin), Robbie Melton (Jessica), and Christen Melton; grandchildren, Morgan, Mackenzie, Manning, Levi, Asher, Kenley, Harper, Rilynn, Nevaeh, and Omarion; and brother, Don Melton (Michelle).

Dave dedicated thirty years of his life to ministry, where he inspired many with his unwavering love for Jesus and Sacred Scripture. His musical talents and love for people served him and his community well as the founder and director of the band Sound Investment, a trombone player for multiple bands traveling the world, and a choir director. Organizing, coordinating, and directing several church and community events, musicals, and programs, he profoundly influenced and enriched countless people’s lives and faith.

Dave was an avid runner, most recently with Achilles International, and found solace in hiking, often chasing waterfalls and exploring national parks. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of washing cars and brushing his dogs. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his beautiful grandkids.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
