David Steward Delph went to be with Jesus on October 25, 2018. He was diagnosed with melanoma in 2015, and metastatic melanoma in late 2017.

David was born in Burlington, Ky., on October 3, 1950. He graduated from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky., in 1972. Soon thereafter, he began his career in education as a teacher in Moores Hill, Ind. He also served in schools in Campbell and Boone Counties (Ky.) and Lawrenceburg, Ind.

David met Rhonda on January 5, 1980, dated long distance, then married on July 5, 1980. They would later welcome two children, Zachary and Natalie.

In 1994 the family moved back to Rhonda's hometown of Nashville, Tenn. For the better part of two and a half decades David poured himself into the lives of so many students in Sumner County. He served as principal of College Heights Christian Academy from 1994-1999 and as school counselor at Knox Doss Middle School from 1999-2018.

David was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, Tenn., where he was a member of the choir, served in children's choirs, and each summer taught special needs children during Vacation Bible School.

David is survived by his wife Rhonda, children Zachary (Marie) and Natalie, grandsons Colin and Oliver, sisters Frances (Donald) and Janet (Butch), sister-in-law Jackie, and many nieces and nephews.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Lallie Marie, and brother, Howard.
