DAVID BAIRD CLARK
Beloved husband of Linda Fay, 33 years in August, passed away suddenly Saturday, July 16, 2011 at his home. He was a life long member of Martinsville United Methodist Church . Preceded in death by Father Lewis and Mother Glenna.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, his sister Betsy and brother in law Rex Wright of Illinois, children Parrish and Kelly Clark of Florida, Christian and Leah Clark of Washington. Lisa and Mickey Jackson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Tony and Kim Martin of Shelbyville, Tennessee, and Shawn and Holly Martin of Nashville, Tennessee, and 10 grandchildren. nieces and nephews, Sister in law Jan and Jack Thompson of Ohio, Brother in law Jerry B. Williams of Springfield, Tennessee.
Dave was a loving, devoted husband to Linda and some of his happiest days were spent with grandchildren. The grandchildren affectionately called him "Grumps" and he was adamant about that being his title.
He loved trains. He recently had the opportunity to take a train trip with his youngest grandson. He was a big man with the most tender heart. Dave attempted to always make others laugh even on some of his worst days. Linda and he dreamed of down-sizing one day and "wiggling their toes" in the sand, travel some, and just enjoy one day at a time. .
Dave thoroughly enjoyed football season! He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears for 60 plus years. He also loved the Titans, Vanderbilt football, and the Chicago Cubs.
He earned numerous awards throughout his life and was most proud of his Eagle Scout Award. He served as an Assistant Scout Master of Scout Troop 624 in Bellevue, Tennessee. Linda and He supported and volunteered for many agencies and causes.
He loved his devoted dogs Duke and Dixie. He enjoyed reading by some his favorite authors: Louis LaMour, John Grisham, and Clive Cussler. Linda and he typically started their day with the paper, coffee him pulling out the Sports Section to read it first. During his favorite holiday, Christmas, he would watch Linda at the kitchen bar for hours as she baked his favorite cookies, and prepared his favorite snack "Chex Mix." Many days were spent at that kitchen bar talking. Dave and Linda had a very special marriage and were totally devoted to one another, each looking after the other.
With the May flood of 2010 and very taxing health issues, the last year had taken a grievous toll on him. Dave will always be remembered for his devotion, and his love for his wife and family, his wonderful sense of humor and easy laugh.
