CSM (Retired), U.S. Army - Age 80, of Hendersonville, passed away September 13, 2016, after a recent illness.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Lunn Flippo; children, Vickie (Dave) Bouse, David (Nancy) Flippo, Jr., step-children, Thomas Harper and Kevin (Heather) Harper. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Agnes (Carden) Flippo, daughter, Davida (Dave) Boltz; grandson, Erik Boltz. Of eight siblings, he is survived by his brother, Jerry Flippo. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. He served 29 years with honor and distinction in the U.S. Army, retiring as Command Sergeant Major. He proudly served in assignments in Germany, Thailand, Vietnam, Panama Canal Zone, and various U.S. installations. Mr. Flippo also retired after 26 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. He was deeply devoted to his country and his family.

A Life Celebration will be held 11:00am Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Burial will be at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory LN, Nashville, TN, 37221, with the U.S. Army Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4:00pm - 8:00pm, Monday and 10:00am - 11:00am, Tuesday at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, Hendersonville, TN, 37075, 615-824-3855 hendersonvillefh.com
