Daniel G. Post, formerly of Newbern, TN, passed away on December 18, 2020 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Doris Post and a brother David Post. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Judy Post; sons Michael Myers (Linda) of Newbern, TN, Daniel Post II (Cherie) of Mukilteo, WA, Michael Post (Sherri) of Hendersonville, TN and Keith "Opie" Allen (Kelly) of Nashville, TN; daughter Kim Cathey (Larry) of Bartlett, TN; brothers Dale Post of Tucson, AZ and Derek Post of AZ; and sister Deanna Lewis of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nephews and a niece.
Dan was born on November 7, 1945 in Albany, NY. After graduating from Millington High School, he followed in his father's footsteps and served seven years in the Navy. After returning to Tennessee, he began a thirty-one year career as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Newbern, TN, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Dan". He enjoyed country line dancing, giving swimming lessons, being the disc jockey for parties, and traveling with his wife and friends.
Visitation with family will be from 1pm to 2pm at the Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home in Hendersonville, TN followed by a graveside service. A Celebration of Life will be held in Newbern, TN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org
