Daniel “Danny” Davis went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2024.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Margaret Davis, brother Hank Davis, brother-in-law Dale Barnes. Daniel is survived by his sister Dorris Barnes of Goodlettsville, niece Candice (Joel) Nelson and nieces Anna and Abigail Nelson and many cousins.
Danny’s sweet spirit, kind and gentle soul will be missed. He truly was one of a kind. His great joy was making people laugh and children gravitated toward him because they could sense what a genuinely kind person he was. Danny was born mentally disabled but it gave him a keen sense of human kindness and he always saw the good in people.
While he was able, Danny took great pride in keeping the lawn “spotless” and free from even one leaf falling on the ground. He enjoyed having responsibilities and was a big help due to his height, as well. Growing to a height of 6’9” we never had to worry about changing a light bulb in the house. One of his most favorite things was telling jokes and he had many of them. Danny had a great love for old cars and put together older car models for many years. He could tell what kind of car it was and if it had a hemi or not.
It’s hard to imagine life without him making his silly faces, flirting with the nurses and asking for goodies from Miss Jackie in the cafeteria at Vanco. In addition to immediate family, we want to thank Elizabeth Linn of Hendersonville who cared for Danny for five years. She became a valued, beloved and treasured friend who our family will always cherish.
A heartfelt thank you to those techs and nurses at Vanco who loved and cared for Danny as if he were their own family. You’ll never know what your caring meant to my family and me.
I’m not sure how not to worry and rush to see you every day, Danny. I’m not sure time will heal this hole in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held in February.
