Claude Canter

Claude Canter, age 78, passed away on March 1, 2025. Claude was born on January 29, 1947 to the late Carsie Canter and Cebre Canter.

Claude was a graduate of East High School. Following his education, he served in the Army, embodying the values of duty and service to his country.

Claude's love for family was fundamental to his life. He cherished spending time with loved ones and created lasting memories that will be treasured by those who knew him. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. 

Claude was an avid drag racing enthusiast with a passion for working on cars, reflecting his adventurous spirit and hands-on approach to life. His zest for living was evident in all that he did, leaving a mark on family and friends alike.

In addition to his parents, Claude is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Ann Canter Woosley; and his brother, Dr. Larry Canter.

Claude is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathie Sue Mayo Canter; his children, Alicia Gale Canter McKnight (Brandon), Mitchell Allen Canter, and Matthew Mayo Canter (Hope); his grandchildren, Noah Allen Canter, Graycie Kathryn Canter, Makenna Alyse McKnight, Mason Paul Canter, and Madelyn Cebre Canter; and great grandchildren, Levi Braxton O'Bryan and Brynleigh Grace O'Bryan.

Visitation for Claude will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 3-7 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075) and again on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 12-2 pm at the same location. The funeral service for Claude will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2 pm with the burial to follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Allen Canter, Matthew Mayo Canter, Noah Allen Canter, Mason Paul Canter, Brandon McKnight, Avery Chapman, Timmy Brewer, and Chris Dyer. Honorary pallbearer will be Levi Braxton O'Bryan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses in Claude's honor.
