Age 75 of Hendersonville, TN was relieved of his earthly sufferings and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
C.T. leaves behind a wonderful legacy as a family man and a man of faith. When recalling his many gifts, the words humble, quiet, gracious, caring, merciful, and loving immediately come to mind. He enjoyed watching and cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers Football Team. C.T. had a sweet tooth and relished in lemon meringue pies, lemon donuts, and chocolate covered cherries. He would turn down a filet mignon for a cheeseburger and never was a fan of chicken. He had a passion for fishing and enjoyed doing so on the Cumberland River. In fact, he and his son, Brad had a lot of quality time together on the river fishing. C.T. loved animals and became very attached to his canine companions throughout his life.
C.T. was a man who had his priorities in order and always put God first. He not only loved Jesus, but committed himself to the service of others in His Name. On the average Sunday, he would attend service at Hendersonville Church of Christ and minister communion to shut-ins at NHC, Park Place, and those in their own homes. During these afternoons spent in service to those unable to attend church services he would truly spend time with and converse with the infirm. Though many were completely unaware, he suffered great physical pains while doing his ministry and would often need a few days to recover from his Sunday schedule. The pain he endured in the service of others was itself an offering to Jesus. His love for others was magnificently manifested in his ministry.
C.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Nellie Tyler. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty Tyler; daughter, Teresa (Brian) Howell; son, Brad (Lisa) Tyler; grandchildren, Chase Howell, Libby Hull; brother, J.C. (Anne) Tyler; sister, Buelah Bishop; several nieces and nephews; and his Breakfast Buddies from the Hendersonville Krystal.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 18 from 4 p.m.-8p.m. and again on Saturday, December 19 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. A Life Celebration will follow visitation on Saturday at 11 a.m. All services will be held at the funeral home.
