Mr. Charles Richard "Dick" Wessels, Jr. age 86, of Cookeville, TN, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.

Mr. Wessels was born in Abingdon, IL on September 13, 1931, the son of the late Charles Richard "Dick" and Vivian Wessels. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Wessels grew up in Galesburg, IL, lived in Burlington, Iowa, Hendersonville, TN, and most recently resided in Cookeville, TN. He worked many years as a building contractor and salesman for various building companies in Illinois, Iowa, and Tennessee. Mr. Wessels was an avid fisherman, golfer, and enjoyed horseracing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wessels was preceded in death by his son, David Wessels; a grandson, Joseph Patrick Wessels; and his wife, Dolores Pauline Hennenfent Wessels.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Lou Boone of Galesburg, IL; children, Pamela Greene, Richard "Dick" Wessels, Daniel Wessels, John Wessels, Melissa Wessels, and Susan Ryerson; and his grandchildren, Anthony, Ben, Abigail, Garrett Walker, Oliver, William, Charlie, and Saddie.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 29, 2017, at 3:00 P.M., Hendersonville Funeral Home.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour at Hendersonville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
