GIBBS, Charles Edward-Age 87, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away December 31, 2011. He was born on April 4, 1924 in Nashville, TN. Mr. Gibbs was a member of the Goodlettsville Masonic Lodge F.A.&M. # 271. He was also a Marine who was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired with E.I. DuPont Co. with 25 plus years service as a pipefitter. Mr. Gibbs played football for Cohn High School and later played Industrial League "Fast Pitch" softball. He loved big band music and dancing. He had several nicknames, but was best known as "Gabby". He and his son, Eric, loved to fish together and rebuild cars. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bryant Gibbs; brothers, John Buford Gibbs, Woodrow "Bubba" Gibbs, George Oliver Gibbs, William "Billy" Paul Gibbs, and half brother, Donald Ray Gibbs. He is survived by son, Eric Clayton Gibbs and Eric's fiancée, Lori Lazo, both of Hendersonville, TN; half sister, Doris Faye Gibbs Richardson, and step-brothers, Larry W. Smartt and Robert G. Smartt. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Crestview Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from noon to 3 p.m. and from 5-8 p.m. with a public Masonic Service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service hour at CRESTVIEW FUNERAL HOME 1623 Hwy. 109 N., Gallatin, TN 37066 615452-1943, www.afamilylegacy.com
