Mr. Cecil Dean McCreary age 90, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
Mr. McCreary was born in Tompkinsville, KY, on January 7, 1930, the son of the late John K. McCreary and Rubye Dyer McCreary. He was a co-founder of the Hendersonville Ambulance Service and Rescue. Mr. McCreary was a musician with the South Bound Bluegrass and a member of Luna Lane Church of Christ where he led singing for many years. He owned and operated Hendersonville Grille from 1974-1981 and Mid-Tenn Concrete Construction from 1969-1986. Mr. McCreary retired in 1998 from the City of Hendersonville Public Works. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and being Santa Claus for the children. Mr. McCreary always loved to help others. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCreary was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye McCreary; three sisters, Louise Pitcock, Lois Mansfield, and Josephine Price; and three
brothers, Stone McCreary, Lenneth McCreary, and Howard McCreary.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Doss McCreary, to whom he was married on December 24, 1968; eight children, Sandra Pryor, Gary McCreary (Constance), Judy Short (Paul), Cary McCreary (Vilay), Pamela McCreary, Tammy McCreary (Rick Jones), Kevin McCreary (Darlene) and Kenneth McCreary; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; three sisters, Sue Marcum, Jacqueline Alexander, and Vanda McCreary.
A private interment service will be held.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Luna Lane Church of Christ once the pandemic subsides.
