Carl Knight

Carl Knight, Sr. was born April 17, 1930 in an area of Jackson, Mississippi, known as Duttoville and passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at his residence in Hendersonville, Tennessee at the age of 89.

Mr. Knight was born the son of James Walter Knight and Etta Mae Pearcy Knight. Carl was a Recording Artist on RCA Records for 11 years, signed by the legendary Chet Atkins. Carl was also a songwriter who had many of his songs recorded by such artists as Loretta Lynn, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mel Tillis, Del Reeves, Charlie Pride and many others. Carl is the voice of beloved anti-bullying Super Hero, "Hockey Todd." Carl was inducted into the Mississippi Hall of Fame in 2010 as a songwriter and was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 8th Annual Nashville Songwriter's Festival. As a young man, Carl was a Golden Gloves State Champion of Mississippi for 5 years and had a short-lived football career that ended due to a leg injury. Carl was also in a movie with Burt Reynolds and Ned Beatty called "WW and the Dixie Dance Kings." Carl Knight Sr. was "THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND."

Parents, James and Etta Mae Knight. His daughter, Barbara Ann Scott and his son, John Carl Knight, Jr.
Carl survived by:
Wife Jeanette Knight of Hendersonville, Tennessee, his daughter, Betty Lynn Hare and her husband Glenn Michael Hare of Mobile, Alabama, his son William Denny Knight and his wife, Rose Marii Knight and Daughter in law, Bekki Knight of Hendersonville, TN., 10 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be at Gloryland Baptist Church 430 Forest Retreat Road Hendersonville, TN on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 1:00 pm.
