Bonnie Mae Graves Henderson was born in Westmoreland, Tennessee on August 14, 1930. Her parents divorced when she was 9 years old. She and two of her four siblings went to live with their grandmother. Bonnie's grandmother enrolled her in school for the first time in her life. Bonnie loved learning and was sorry to age out of public school at the 8th grade level.
When Bonnie was 26, she married Cooper Henderson. They raised two sons; Jim and Robert. Bonnie was determined to give her sons opportunities for education that she never had. She worked various factory jobs for years to pay their way through college.
Bonnie's home was the hub of her extended family. Siblings with families in tow got together often to eat and play games. She loved to cook and considered everyone walking through her door an honored guest.
Cooper passed away in 2000. Bonnie thought it wise to live with family. She became a valuable part of Jim's household. She was the Granny Taxi, errand runner, supper fixer among many other things.
Bonnie was very proud of the men her sons became. She loved her daughters in law and delighted in her two granddaughters. She was a clear expression of her Lord Jesus Christ: humble, loving, self-sacrificing. She passed away January 31, 2019. She will be greatly missed.
