Bobby “Monroe” Stephens, age 76, of Gallatin, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021. Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Stephens and Willie Harmon, and sister, Shirley Harmon. Survived by his loving wife, Linda, of 53 years, children, Michael Stephens and Jeffrey Stephens (Cassie), grandchildren, Aydin and Brody Stephens, brother, Billie Stephens, along with nieces, nephews and extended family. Bobby is also survived by his dogs, Daisy Mae and Sammy Davis.
Bobby was born on October 5, 1945, in Lexington, TN and grew up in Gibson County. He joined the United States Army in 1963 and served in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Green Berets. Bobby then started his own company, Bobby Monroe Dozer, operating heavy equipment. He also spent 10 years as a professional wrestler and later was a chauffer and bodyguard for many celebrities. Bobby enjoyed wildlife, fishing, and road trips with his dog. He will be remembered as a generous man to anyone in need.
A Celebration of Life service for Bobby will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, on Friday, November 12th, 2021, at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastors Larry Gilmore and Bruce Chesser. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
