Bobby Len South, age 77, passed away on May 23, 2023 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born on August 27, 1945 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Sitha and Marvin South. Bobby is also preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara South and Rita South; and great-granddaughter, Bennett Hurd.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diana South; children, Tess Roach (Shane) and Tonia Dorris; step-children, Ronnie Heath (Christina); grandchildren, Emily Hurd (Chris), Caitlin Williams (Stephen), and David Dorris; step-grandchildren, Lucas Heath, Wil Taylor, and Kaitlin Taylor; great-grandchildren, Lexi Gray, Ryker Hurd, Landrie Hurd, Amelia Williams, and Brynn Hurd; and siblings, Frankie Rye, Mary Jane Byrd (Jim), Ervin South (Sandy), Minnie Jones (Charlie), Merle South (Eudean), and Connie Hill (Tommy).
Bobby served his country in the United States Army in Alaska. Bobby worked as a plastic molding manufacturer with Kusan and then went on to retire with Western Electric/AT&T. He was a member of the Communications Workers of America Union. After retirement, he owned his own lawn care business. Bobby and Diana enjoyed traveling the United States in their RV and only missed one state in their travels. Bobby also enjoyed woodworking, golfing, dancing, and horseshoes. He placed 2nd in the World Horseshoe Championship in 2014. Bobby was a member of the Greenbrier, Tennessee Masonic Lodge.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with a one hour visitation held prior to the service at Hendersonville Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
