Betty L. Derryberry was embraced in the arms of the Lord early in the morning of September 24, 2016. She was eighty-six.
Betty was a loving woman who will be missed dearly by all those who knew her, but her memory will live on. One fond memory we have is that she never missed anyone's birthday in our family, she always sent a card. She was a diehard Atlanta Brave's fan. Ironically, she spent four nights under hospice care and her Brave's won four games in a row each of those nights. As a NASCAR fan she had the need for speed and was particularly fond of Jeff Gordon. Daytona, Talladega, and Atlanta were all home to major races which she and her family attended.
Betty's family mentioned, "if we were to give the staff of Alive Hospice a grade, they'd get an A-plus!" We are sincerely grateful for everyone at Alive Hospice for their dedication and care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Aislee Bellar; and sisters, Mary Lee Shelton, Wylow Dean Pierce. Betty leaves behind her faithful and loving husband of sixty-six years, Frank J. Derryberry; son, Gary Wayne (Ginny) Derryberry; granddaughter, Jennifer Derryberry; grandson, Phillip Derryberry; sisters, Etta Short, Roberta Denton, Linda Gayle (Jimmy) Tucker; brothers, James Robert (Glenda) Bellar, Mike Bellar; several loving and supportive nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. and again on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. concluding in a Celebration of Betty's Life. All will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 E. Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075 hendersonvillefh.com 615-824-3855 Interment will be at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
