Betty Arnold Bonds Caldwell, age 87, passed away on October 6, 2015 after a ten month battle with leukemia. She was preceded in death by parents, Herman Alexander and Eleanor Elizabeth Arnold; husbands, Bobby Lee Bonds & Colonel James Caldwell. She is survived by sister, Esther Duckworth of Franklin; daughter, Bobette Spear (Jim); son, Barry Bonds (Vanessa), stepchildren, Jim Caldwell, Jr. and Jeanna DeLeon (Ruben) grandchildren, Jason Bonds (Heather), Eric Spear (Sally) &; Ashley Hedgcoth (James); great-grandchildren, Delaney, Abigayle, Eleanor Bonds, Michael Spear & Jeffrey Ryan & Taylor DeLeon.
Betty was born in Calhoun City, Mississippi, on July 26, 1928. She graduated from Lambert High School. She attended Mississippi College for Women and graduated from Delta State University with a home economic and education degree. She taught home economics before becoming the dietician for the Cleveland, MS School System. Betty then, after moving to Libertyville, IL, became a substitute teacher for several years. She enjoyed living in Texas, Florida, and Franklin, TN, before moving to the Hearth in Hendersonville where she enjoyed many activities with new friends.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, October 8 from 3:00-7:00pm at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A service and burial will be held in Charleston, Mississippi.
The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care she received from Dr. Laura Barnes and Staff, The Hearth Staff, and her Alive Hospice caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Alive Hospice 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN, 37203 or a charity of your choice.
