Betty F. Brown

Betty Frances Penick Brown, 88, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, with her loving family by her side.  Betty was born on October 10, 1934, to Milburn W. and Maudie D. (Moss) Penick in Nashville, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Hume Fogg High School.

Betty loved to draw and paint.  She also enjoyed all crafts including crocheting, knitting, and wood carving. She was an excellent cook.  She also enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.  Betty married the love of her life John D. (JD) Brown on June 9, 1956.  Betty moved from East Nashville to Hendersonville in 1968. She was a member of the Hendersonville Church of Christ where she taught preschool and kindergarten.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her son Steven D. Brown along with daughter in law Dana Brown; parents Milburn and Maudie; 2 brothers, Jerry Penick and Jack (Sue) Penick; sister Peggy Penick Merrell.  She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years John D. (JD) Brown; daughter Kathy L. (Bob) Shannon; granddaughters Roxanne Nicole Vaughn, Rebecca Shannon, and Robyn Shannon.  In addition, she is survived by her great-grandchildren Bryce Bullard and Sebastian Bullard; sister- in- law Verna Penick and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Hendersonville Memory Gardens beginning at 10:30am.
