Ben (Billy) Fort, age 84 of Hendersonville, passed away on January 16, 2015.
Mr. Fort was born on August 19, 1930 to the late Freeman and Henrietta Fort in Cedar Hill, Tennessee. In 1947, Mr. Fort joined the United States Air Force where he honorable served until retirement in 1970 with 23 years of active service. After leaving the Air Force, Mr. Fort went on to start a career refurbishing air conditioning systems. He will be best known for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather.
In addition to his parents Mr. Fort is preceded in death by his brothers, R.D. and Ray Fort and sister, Margaret Read.
Mr. Fort is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Rose Marie Fort; daughters, Carolyn (Allen) Jones, Janet (Creig) Soeder, Cheryl (David) Thomas, and Nancy Johnson; 11 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, at 12 pm with Allen Jones and Creig Soeder officiating. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Chris Jones, Allen Jones, Creig Soeder, Chris Powelson, Nathan Johnson, and Dicky Read will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, January 21 from 10 until the time of service at noon.
