Barbara Calverley

Barbara Ann (Coyle) Calverley, 92, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 with her family by her side.  Barbara was born on March 6, 1931, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Joseph and Mary Catherine (Crosby) Coyle.

Barbara was very proud to have served as a nurse for 45 years; her prestigious career included time in the ER, OR and working with children who suffered from developmental, physical, and psychological disabilities.   She believed in the importance of education and instilled that in her children and grandchildren.  She put her career on hold to raise her children, after which she pursued both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Barbara was proud of her Irish heritage and loved St. Patrick’s Day and singing her favorite Irish songs.  She also was a “Fashionista”, she loved clothes and jewelry and was always fashionably dressed for any occasion.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Catherine, her husband Bill Calverley; brothers Leo, Jack, and Bill; and sister Helen Bullock.  She is survived by her son Don Calverley; daughters Helen Calverley, Marilyn (Chris) Meyer, and Mary Beth (Eric) Benner.  In addition, she is survived by granddaughters Julia (Nate) Oliver and Catherine Meyer; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 10:30am-11:30am at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee.  A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 am, celebrated by Father Scott Bullock, Barbara’s beloved nephew.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barbara’s name to Catholic Charities.
