Ashley Michelle Smartt, age 34, left us for the loving arms of our Lord on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, after battling a rare form of cancer. She was a shining example of beauty, strength, and grace, a faithful Christian, and an extraordinary daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend. Ashley had an unmistakable light that surrounded her, a magnetism that drew us in and made us all feel special. She will be remembered for her sunny disposition, her kindness and limitless patience, her sense of humor, joyous laughter and angelic smile. Ashley's love of music, dance, and children fueled her career as a dance instructor at Smartt Steps, where she shaped the lives of many young students, not only molding them into strong, capable dancers, but also strong, capable human beings, teaching them that true beauty radiates from the inside out. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy.
Ashley is survived by her parents Jim and Sharon Smartt, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, her sisters, Shauna Hopkins and Andrea Nutter, and their families: John Garner Hopkins (Caden and Kellan) and Stephen Nutter (Maks); grandmothers, Doris Mullins and Josephine Smartt and was reunited in heaven with her two grandfathers Granville Mullins and James Smartt .
Visitation will be held at Hendersonville First Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 4-8pm and on Wednesday from 12-1pm.
