Anna Norton Bridges, 82, of Nashville, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Born in Nashville on July 7, 1933, Anna was the youngest child of Samuel Fields Norton, Sr. and Martha Pernecie Byrum Norton. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Gertrude Norton Rhodes, Evelyn Norton Williams; and brothers Sam Norton, Jr., Harold Norton, and Gerald Norton, Sr.
A graduate of the class of 1951 from East Nashville High School, Anna was active in the alumni association. She was a member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church where she worked in the preschool Sunday School, sang in the sanctuary choir, and played in the handbell choir.Ms. Bridges was a homemaker who loved to bake and to crochet, especially afghans and baby blankets. As her grandchildren were growing up, she enjoyed taking them on trips to Graceland, Rock City, San Antonio, and Hawaii.
Survivors include four children: Carolyn (Ed) Gregory of Hendersonville; Nancy (Allan) Legard of Hendersonville; Janis (Roger) McKinney of Hendersonville; and Bob (Kim) Bridges of Richmond, Virginia; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, from 3 - 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, from 10 a.m. until noon with the service to follow. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
