Aidan Elijah Harland, 20, of Hendersonville, TN succumbed to his battle with depression and mental illness on April 27, 2023. He was comforted by family members as he passed on from this world. Aidan was known for his fiery curly red hair and his striking crystal blue eyes. An avid creator and voracious reader, he was always drawing, writing, composing lyrics, and producing music. When Aidan was not creating, he could be found carving the streets and bowls of various skateparks throughout Middle Tennessee. Aidan’s love for his family and friends was his driving force, and he knew few strangers. He was a graduate of Hendersonville High School Class of 2021. After high school, he pursued his dream of working in the music industry. His love of his family, friends, and the world permeated everything he worked on during his short life. This love drove him to opt to be an organ donor, so that other people could have a second chance here on Earth.
Aidan is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ricky Hutton; great-grandmother, Patricia Coulter; great-grandfather, Walter Coulter; and uncle, Shaun Patterson. He is survived by parents, Robert and Amanda Harland; sister, Sienna Harland; brother, Oliver Harland; cousins, Miranda Lewis, Sebastian Lewis, Alice Strock, and Marshall Betts; grandparents, James and Kathy Harland, and Cheryel Hutton; uncle, Jimmy Harland; and aunt, Carrie (Robert) Betts.
The family would like everyone to know that Aidan suffered, as many do, in the shadows of society for many years as he battled the onslaught of mental illness. The family urges anyone who is hurting to seek help immediately and continuously. Should anyone be in crisis or knows someone who is contact the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 as soon as possible. You are not alone. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Jason Foundation or any mental illness organization in Aidan’s name. The family also requests that everyone consider becoming a registered organ donor.
