On August 25, 2023, Addean Keturah Caneer Wilburn, age 93, was called home by her Lord Jesus Christ to claim her inheritance promised by him.
Today she is in paradise celebrating. She is in her new body beyond pain and the physical limitations forced upon by her health for the last many years.
Throughout her life, Addean embodied the Excellent Woman described in Proverbs 31: “Her value is far more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls.” Her humility and generosity inspired her family and friends to follow her example. Addean’s loving support and encouragement was extended to everyone who met her. She often repeated, “The first time you come you are company, the second time you come you are family.”
Addean expressed her faith in acts of loving kindness with devotion and skills that reached beyond her amazing talent in sewing, crafting and baking: “She worked with willing hands in delight; she reached out her filled hands to the needy. She spoke in [skillful and godly] wisdom and the teaching of kindness was on her tongue [giving counsel and instruction].”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Neatho Caneer; her loving husband of 62 years, Herbert; his (15) brothers and sisters some of who were her closest childhood friends; her own (3) brothers and (1) sister; and a large host of friends and relatives who were all waiting for her arrival in Heaven.
She is survived by her children, Sheila W. Dannenmaier (William D.), Vaden O. Wilburn (Denise), Kevin E. Wilburn (Debra), Rhonda L. Roberts (Victor), and Karen Mitchell; her brother, Sydney Foster Caneer (Theresa); her grandchildren, Stephen Dannenmaier (Katie) and Andrew Dannenmaier, Megaera Rye (Shane), Karie Miller (Jason), Ashley Hunter (PJ), Melynda Whited (Joseph), Benjamin Wilburn, Todd Allis, Xoye and Kloye Wilburn, Meaghan Holland (Kevin) and Tiffany O’saile (Brandon); her great grandchildren; Deunan and John Dannenmaier, Ezekiel and Khafre Rye, Austin Wilburn, Nathan Miller, Taylor and Noah Buttram, Alaina, Kylie, Ethan and Seth Hunter, Joseph, Jr., Isaiah and Elijah Whited, Layla Holland and Rylee O’saile; some special people that Addean wanted to mention, Andy and Sherry, Cheryl, Sharon, and Hazel; her church families at Holiday Heights Baptist Church and Hillview Baptist Church; along with great nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm with burial to follow.
